Loeb Smith Partner Peter Vas recognised in ALB Offshore Client Choice List 2021

Loeb Smith is pleased to announce that Peter Vas has been recognized as a leading offshore lawyer in Asian Legal Business’ Offshore Client Choice List.

The list comprises Asia’s standout lawyers from offshore law firms who have exceeded client expectations and is the culmination of extensive research conducted by ALB which involves collating feedback from in-house counsel, onshore lawyers and other corporate services professionals. Among other things, Peter is described by clients as “very knowledgeable of offshore legal matters” and as being able to “provide succinct, commercial advice in a timely manner”. This builds upon Peter’s previous recognition in the Legal 500 Asia-Pacific in which he is described as “very responsive”.

Peter is a Partner in, and leads/coordinates, the firm’s Banking & Finance and Corporate Groups in Hong Kong. He provides British Virgin Islands and Cayman Islands law advice to banks, other financial institutions, sponsors, insurance companies, other corporate entities and private clients and has acted on some of the largest and most complex banking & finance and corporate transactions in the Asian market. For example, he provided BVI and Cayman Islands law advice in connection with China Vanke's participation in a consortium to take Global Logistic Properties Ltd private which was valued at approximately US$11.6bn, Singapore's largest M&A deal on record and Asia's largest private equity buyout at the time of the transaction. He also advised the steering committee of bondholders of certain notes issued by Kaisa Group in connection with its restructuring of nearly 17 billion yuan in offshore debt involving around 70 offshore vehicles.

Peter commented on his recognition and said ”I am delighted to be recognised as a leading offshore lawyer in Asia. As a firm, we strive to provide a highly personalised and responsive level of service and are grateful to our clients for recognising this.”
